WWE never really cared about the fans and Worlds Collide, they just had one sinister motive and ended up embarrassing themselves.
The Worlds Collide scenario has been terrible for WWE so far. First they wanted to use the occasion of AEW All Out and went out on a gambit to hit their ticket sales for the PPV. It got them nowhere. Both Worlds Collide and All Out are set to emanate from the same day and the same time in Chicago, but in a swift turn of events WWE have decided to not air the event at all.
Instead their more sinister plan and motive is far more insane.
WWE Wanted To Take Away Social Media Engagement From AEW And It Worked
The only motive WWE had with the Worlds End scenario was to get as much social media engagement from it as possible. We all know at this point that TKO loves the social media engagement and judges a lot of factors in their product and even star contracts over how much social media and digital clicks they are generating.
One of the ways to harm your competition is to get the world to talk about everything else apart from the very thing they were presenting. By having Worlds Collide go simultaneously with All Out, a simple move helped them take away all the talk from the PPV.
As soon as CM Punk came out to his old theme song with the SES mask, the conversations shifted, it went from AEW All Out and Worlds Collide existing simultaneously to being completely about about Punk and his moment. It then swiftly changed to Punk, El Grande Americano, Rey Mysterio, and Oba Femi.
WWE thrives on having their large audience base constantly go through one clip after another and getting their attention span. They did it with practically what was a house show, only marred in parts by Steven Borden’s unfortunate injury and Will Ospreay’s bizarre comments.
And if this wasn’t enough, WWE will do it again on Wednesday with Dynamite. However, the heartbreaking situation around Pac may have put a dent in those plans.
