Ex WWE And Current AEW Star Dustin Rhodes Just Got Himself Cancelled, But Is Now Playing The Victim

Former WWE and current AEW star Goldust (Dustin Rhodes) has gotten himself cancelled and it’s not looking good.

At 57 years of age, there’s very little that remains in the bucket list of former WWE star Goldust to accomplish in his wrestling career. Most of his peers have retired, and Dusty Rhodes’ eldest son himself hasn’t been in action for over a year at this point, thanks to getting a double knee replacement surgery. But even the out of action, way past his prime Dustin couldn’t save himself from getting cancelled after what went down.

At the peak of his career, Rhodes was nothing better than a comedy act. The funny and quick-witted Goldust, who was usually always the comic relief under Vince McMahon, finally found his redemption arc under Tony Khan. He could be serious, have the matches he always wanted, bleed at will, and possibly even win some titles.

But, unfortunately, the only title he ever won in AEW was the TNT Championship, in a reign that lasted only 19 days. It can be argued that Dustin was always the overlooked member of his family. On the one hand, when his father has been hailed as one of the greatest legends the industry has ever seen, and his brother, Cody, has quit WWE, formed AEW, and then returned to WWE to win three world titles already. However, Dustin Rhodes’ latest disaster has clearly set him apart from the family.

Former WWE And Current AEW Star Dustin Rhodes Plays The Victim Card After Twitter Fumble

A few days ago, Dusty Rhodes commented on the photo of a woman who was seen carrying a firearm with the caption was completely Islamophobic. It went unnoticed for two or so days before TNA star Mustafa Ali commented on the matter and stated that it was shameful of Dustin to have commented on that post and the picture.

“I respect you and your family immensely. You showing support to something like this is really disappointing,” Mustafa Ali said.

Soon after this, Rhodes jumped to his own defense, stating that he had not read the caption and only liked the photo of the firearm. In itself that was a bizarre and outright lame excuse, the equivalent of the “dog ate my homework” excuse from school. But even when that was said and done, fans relentlessly trolled him and labelled him as ‘far right.’

Rhodes has always made sure that he presents a liberal and ‘holier than thou’ image of himself on X/Twitter, and that being shattered with one tweet and call out was obviously too hard for him to bear. The star promptly called out those who were trolling him and stated that he did not mean to comment on the picture and the post, but he did, and then immediately started apologising to Mustafa Ali.

“My apologies @MustafaAli_X . I am not that person. Genuinely like the photo. Did not read caption and don’t agree with that at all.”

Dustin then stated that he has selective reading and he missed the caption for have this impairment leading to the debacle.

“Yall can think what you want, but I am or have selective reading. Not a lie. Once again, i am sorry for not reading the post. I am 110% against what she said after looking. I am being honest.”

If this wasn’t enough, the former WWE star started playing the victim, telling the fans and those online that he was quitting the app. He stated that irrespective of how many people he helped, and what he did, and after years of inspiring people, there are always so many who try to bring him down.

“Think I’m gonna quit this app. No matter how many people i help, or how many i inspire, there is always so many trying to break you down. Tired.”

It’s insane that Dustin Rhodes found a way to turn things around and then go after the same fans who called him out on the shambles that was his Twitter post. The AEW star’s victimisation of his own-self goes to show how little accountability there is in the business in general.

Since this post, Dustin Rhodes has made his account private and said that he is available only on Instagram from now on.
