Over the last decade or so there has been no better stable and storyline in WWE than The Bloodline, but it needs to end.
Roman Reigns has given fans two of the best stables in WWE history. It started with The SHIELD, a never-ending lore of three legends who went on to make history and become three of the greatest of their generation. Yes, Jon Moxley is a legend, whether you like it or not. Next, he gave fans perhaps the greatest faction in WWE history with The Bloodline. While Triple H and The Evolution may have something to say about that, it’s the truth at this point that The Bloodline ran the company for several years and continues to be the highlighting factor of Triple H’s run so far as head of creative. Yes, he wasn’t the originator of the story, but he did a fantastic job of booking it and giving it that extra edge.
That being said, when Roman Reigns lost at WrestleMania 40 to Cody Rhodes and then took that lengthy hiatus, it seemed probable that the story had run its course. The Usos were gone, Solo had betrayed, Sami Zayn was gone, and The Tribal Chief was a king without an island to rule.
It was the perfect storybook ending, the most opportune moment to turn him into a complete babyface, something WWE had been waiting and trying to do for years. The ultimate babyface who fans would like, and someone who could really take another step in his legendary career, instead Triple H fumbled.
It’s Time For WWE To End The Bloodline Saga
Since his return to WWE after winning the World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania, Reigns came back on the RAW after the PLE to reunite The Bloodline. At the time he stated that it was going to be a group where there were no leaders and The Usos and himself would be equals. The guy who calls himself the Tribal Chief wants his cousins, who he has mistreated for years, to be his equals. Okay, LOL, sure bro, we believe you.
But make note of the fact that he never for once apologized to either Jey or Jimmy Uso because he never felt the need to and when LA Knight pointed that out, it was in vein because both Jey and Jimmy were already too brainwashed.
Then came Jacob Fatu, the guy who are running rampant all over the SmackDown roster and legitimately looked like the next big star with main event potential. He lost to Roman Reigns twice and was then forced to join The Bloodline as one of their subordinates and then Reigns played his biggest card yet, wanting to get Solo Sikoa back into the Bloodline mix.
This dragged on for several weeks with The Bloodline regurgitating the same dynamics, the same confrontations and the same office politics-like manoeuvres. Jimmy and Jey hate Jacob, Roman likes Jacob and Jey does everything in his power to get Reigns to hate Jacob, and ultimately Reigns decides to do it all alone and try an win his matches without his family.
The only commendable thing about this has been the last part basically, but the other parts stink. There’s nothing fresh or exciting, Roman himself doesn’t know whether he’s a face or a heel at this point, oscillating between both during TV shows and PLEs. One the one hand he shakes Seth Rollins’ hand, and on the other hand he mocks LA Knight for his watch.
The latest episode of RAW was further proof that WWE actually does not have anything fresh related to The Bloodline. It’s the same heel Roman mocking those who disobey him, and by calling The Usos his ‘captains’ and giving then Ula Falas, he has proved that Jimmy and Jey would always be one rank below him, and not at the same level like he had promised in April.
Well, with that now out of the window, what happens to Jacob? On WWE RAW, he stood in a corner like a statue because Roman Reigns asked him to not move. This led to a vicious beatdown from LA Knight and Solo Sikoa, who betrayed Roman and did not join The Bloodline, and now it seems, everything is at the point where it was in 2023/24.
Remember when Sami betrayed Roman, and then Jey did the same, and all that shenanigans happened? Yeah, nothing has changed. Reigns’ character hasn’t moved an inch, and if the reports are to be believed, internally Roman Reigns is listed as a heel.
So the perfect opportunity to turn Roman into a babyface and give him a new direction is also out of the window after fans spent years of their time and energy investing in the character and The Bloodline saga.
Exactly where does this go? Another Bloodline WarGames match? The third one in five years? Or does everyone eventually just gang up against Roman Reigns and beat him black and blue.
It seems neither WWE nor The Bloodline can decided whether they are heels or babyfaces. The creative direction of them being right in the middle is the most logicless something can be. There’s still a lot of oppportunity with The Bloodline, and the faster WWE learns to pounce on it, the better it will be.
