CM Punk is legitimately one of the greatest superstars in WWE history, but right now, he’s no longer the megastar we all think he is.

The Best In The World has lived by his nickname for years and proved to the world that when it come to in-ring action and promos there are very few in the world who can touch him. He is perhaps the last real megastar who has the capability to make any crowd feel any emotions. He is one of the last real superstars who can seamlessly transition from being a heel to a babyface and stir up any scenario to bring out the maximum from it.

Whether it’s a simple run in with the title or a WrestleMania 42, even at 47, Punk does a lot of things, that even the younger generation of today can’t imagine. But despite all this, the former AEW star isn’t the draw he once used to be.

CM Punk Has Failed To Sell Out WWE Worlds Collide

WWE decided to do the unthinkable and compete with AEW on September 26 in Chicago. The premise of the battle was AEW All Out vs Worlds Collide. Of course, Chicago is home to Punk, and it was given that the company would bank on the star to sell out the Allstate Arena, which has a setup of around 12,000.

However, it seems that despite all the efforts put in by the company and the star power at display, with Punk already announced for a match, Worlds Collide has not sold out. At the time of writing the show has sold 11, 162, about one thousand short of the sold out mark. This is as per WretleTix.



Not only has AEW sold out the show days before (albeit with a smaller setup), but could easily hit the 10,000 mark. To come to CM Punk’s hometown and sell out a venue for a promotion that is considerably smaller than WWE, is a task you didn’t think was possible in this lifetime.

On top of all this, WWE’s direction with the show still remains a mystery. The show has not yet been confirmed for a full live telecast of the PLE, and it will likely either be on Club WWE, or air for free on the company’s YouTube channel.

For a star of Punk’s stature, it’s kind of a shame to think that a show that has been built around him, has lacked the strength to appease fans and sell out the tickets. Combined with the controversies involved and the exceptional strength that Tony Khan and his men have displayed. Truth be told, All Out isn’t even that good in terms of build and card but has still managed to give Triple H and TKO a run for their monies.

All of this ultimately boils down to WWE’s second biggest star, who was until recently, the Undisputed Champion, has not managed to make his magic work and get his team the victory. Remember that Allstate Arena has the capacity of 18,000, so even when the arena sells out, it will still be 6,000 short of the complete mark.

Meanwhile, All Out’s venue, Now Arena, has a total capacity of 10,500, so they are only 1,500 short of the total mark. In all honesty, Punk has managed to save the show by all means, otherwise, this could have been a worse disaster.
