The Disturbing Pattern With All Of CM Punk’s WWE Feuds

It seems the lack of ideas is really affecting WWE with them running the same CM Punk feud again and again.

CM Punk and Kevin Owens had another intense promo exchange on the latest edition of WWE SmackDown. While nobody can take anything away from these superstars, they are perhaps two of the best talkers in the company right now, and certainly two of the best in the world.

Both men got personal with their jabs and their attacks on one another. They are set to face for the Undisputed WWE Title next week in Toronto but before that all kinds of references and verbal attacks were made.

Things got off on the wrong note when Kevin Owens brought up his disdain for Punk when he berated him in front of the entire locker room 20 years ago in ROH. Punk then retaliated that KO was always soft and that he had and his friends got their feelings hurt easily.

This brought up the topic of Owens’ friends, and of course it were The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega. Remember them? Punk obviously hates the Bucks and Omega for the backstage fight and hatred for each other backstage in AEW, which ultimately led to Punk getting terminated from the promotion.

Kevin Owens stated that nobody who has ever been friends with him has liked CM Punk, to which the champ replied that being the best came with the price of not being liked by losers.

When all of this was said and done, Punk stated that KO could do something about the disrespect but the latter chose not to as he would prefer to do it next week in Toronto, while Punk left the ring after calling him “fat” once again. In the middle they also referenced Goldberg, Samoa Joe, Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, and a ton of other things.

This was an exceptional exchange but it’s the same CM Punk formula over and over again.

WWE Keeps On Repeating The Same CM Punk Feuds

While the promo was great and all, one thing kept sticking out like a sore thumb. It’s the same repeated things about CM Punk that everybody keeps talking about.

Whether it’s MJF or Eddie Kingston in AEW, or Sami Zayn and Roman Reigns in WWE, it’s just that nobody likes CM Punk. The same repeated, regurgitated lines about how Punk was a menace to the business for years, how he was the cancer that spread throughout the locker room, and how he left when things got heated.

Everybody seems to have a past with Punk, and they all had their share of stories with the star, while also calling him by his real name once or twice during the feud. The pattern is insane, and if you don’t see it, you’d have to be blind to the problems surrounding CM Punk and his feuds.

Truth be told, there’s nothing wrong with it though. All his feuds have some kind of stories to tell. Whether it’s the SHIELD lore with Roman, the Dusty Rhodes connection with Cody Rhodes, or the ROH beef with Kevin Owens, Punk is one hell of a storyteller, and his feuds have been amazing to see.

But this has been the same pattern with Drew McIntyre and continues to be the same thing two/three years after his return. Maybe adding some variety and some other points to these feuds could add more value.
