Not Kevin Owens Or Sami Zayn, 20-Time WWE Champ Should Dethrone CM Punk

If WWE really wants to take things to the next level then CM Punk should only be dethroned by a 20-time WWE champ.

CM Punk’s Undisputed WWE Title reign stands at about 50 days with the latest episode of WWE SmackDown marking his latest defense of the belt. The match against Kevin Owens was the first time both stars even met in the ring, but the finish left many with a bad taste in their mouths, and wanting more. Sami Zayn interfered in the final moments of the bout and took out Kevin Owens to hand Punk the victory. Zayn then attacked both Punk and Owens after the match and it’s clear where this is going.

However, if Punk is to be dethroned of the title, there should only be one person.

Randy Orton Should Be The One To Defeat CM Punk For The WWE Title

The latest edition of SmackDown had another very interesting segment with Randy Orton finally confronting CM Punk backstage on the show and showing his interest in getting his hands on the Undisputed Title.

This would be the perfect opportunity to move Orton, who is a 14-time world champion and overall 20-time champion in WWE, away from the Cody Rhodes feud and bring him into the world title picture. It’s clear that Triple H will not be pulling the trigger on a Kevin Owens title run anytime soon, so it is imperative for a fresh face with much needed momentum to join the fray.

Yes Punk and Orton are two old dogs and it doesn’t bring any newer, younger face into the mix, but then, they are also great at what they do and one last legendary feud before they call it a day would be something that can draw a lot of fans.

However, the outcome of the feud should be The Viper going on to win his 15th world title before title. He has been a legend of the game and deserves to stand solo in the list of the world title winners and surpass Triple H. The Game would want nothing more than to be surpassed by his own protege and that way it could build for an emotional next few months.

Punk probably would have loved to have given the rub to a fresher, up and coming talent like Trick Williams, but if there’s anyone on the roster who deserves the accolade it is Randy Orton. Yes, WWE does have an age problem, and perhaps in some years, we will look back on this as how an opportunity was lost, but with how the current product is being booked no one seems credible enough to take the title off CM Punk, other than Randy Orton, who is also a heel now, giving the promotion the perfect opportunity to have this feud.

It should be a match that should be locked in for Survivor Series with the next big PLE being the perfect spot for the crowning moment and giving the creative team enough time to build a compelling storyline.
