The Most Underrated Champions In WWE Right Now

Two stars are doing the work of their lives and have silently become two of the most underrated champions in WWE right now.

While everybody frets about Roman Reigns, Stephanie Vaquer, Chelsea Green, and all that, two stars are currently on the run of their lives. Their work has been exceptionally good, considering how much Triple H loves to disregard the mid-card titles. So far it seems like there has been a sort of uprise in way the Intercontinental Titles have been booked on WWE RAW.

Both Chad Gable and Raquel Rodriguez are both veterans in WWE at this point. With Gable from a lengthy injury hiatus and then a run in AAA, it was imperative that Triple H book him well to pick up the momentum from the Mask vs Mask match against El Grande Americano. He did just that and Gable is currently one of the best stars on the RAW roster. He won the Intercontinental Title from Penta at SummerSlam, and has tried his best to live up to the legacy Penta formed while holding the title.

Truth be told, over the years the Intercontinental Title has lost a lot of its prestige and Triple H has done a great job of trying to revive it. He has been instrumental in getting the United States Title and the Intercontinental Title. The Game has booked the latter better than the former, and Gunther was the first step in establishing that.

Many argued that Gable should have won it from Gunther, but when he finally did defeat Penta for the title, it was a huge moment. It happened in his hometown of Minnesota in front of his family and his friends. But it’s what happened after that, that has the wrestling world very excited for what it to come.

Gable has been IC Champ for around 43 days at this point, and in that time has defended the title 13 times since SummerSlam. Some of his matches have been absolutely phenomenal including the one on the latest episode of WWE RAW where he faced Dragon Lee. It was arguably the match of the night.

But it’s not just Gable…

Raquel Rodriguez Is WWE’s Women’s Champion Right Now

Raquel won the title from Sol Ruca on the last RAW of July around 50 days ago and has since then been a revelation with the title. She also has some tough names to live up to when it comes to the Intercontinental Title with both Becky Lynch and Sol Ruca having done some fantastic stuff with it.

The Judgment Day member has been doing pretty well for herself despite more or less living in the shadow of Liv Morgan. Since winning the title, Raquel has defended it five times and has put on some good matches. She has largely improved in terms of promo skills and has made a mark on both the fans and the powers that be.

Her progress shows that Rodriguez could well and truly be in line for the world title when she loses the IC Title.

Both Gable and Raquel are leaps and bounds ahead of Roman Reigns and Stephanie Vaquer when it comes to being champs. Reigns has defended the title five times since winning it at WrestleMania, while Vaquer has only just won it.

Gable and Raquel go largely under the radar as champs but they show up on WWE RAW every week and put on stellar performances. They seem to be doing better than Trick Williams, the US Champ as his programme with Baron Corbin as been kind of a mess, and Chelsea Green and Jacy Jayne are yet to have a hardcore feud in their respective title defenses. Sami Zayn has also only just won the title so it’s hard to say where his reign will go, but overall, Gable and Raquel are the contenders for men’s and women’s champs of the year, if an award such as that ever existed.
