Lil Yachty Is Wrong About WWE Fans, And It’s Insulting

Lil Yachty is taking multiple shots at WWE fans and has insulted the IWC, but really nobody should care about him.

The growing sentiment within the top brass of WWE is to not take social media criticism seriously. Nick Khan talks about it all the time and tries his best to disregard the fans and the online critics, sometimes stating that the company simply ignores what we, the fans, have to say, while other times stating that social media criticism is heard and implemented but it never works. Triple H has said the same a number of times, and it seems that temperament has trickled onto the performers quite a bit as well.

CM Punk has stated multiple times that WWE fans are miserable and that their only job is to criticise the wrestling and the product instead of enjoying it. While we still may take a veteran of 30 years seriously and introspect, Lil Yachty saying the same about the IWC cannot be taken seriously whatsoever.

A rapper who has been in the business only five seconds in segments that have unanimously been regarded as some of the worst in a long time should stay far away from expressing his opinions on the fans.

While speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Yachty, who has primarily been the manager for Trick Williams from WrestleMania season this year and is seemingly under WWE contract, spoke up about the IWC and some of the criticism he has received from fans and pundits online. He called the fans online “miserable” and stated that wrestling has always been about the funny moments and not to be taken seriously.

“Along with the IWC, it’s a lot of miserable people. There’s a lot of miserable people. They hate life or they just hate fun. But if you’re a real wrestling fan, you know wrestling has always had a fun element to it. It’s always had a silly [element]. Doink the Clown? What are we talking about? It’s not always just been super serious. It’s always been fun moments in wrestling. Hornswoggle, Boogeyman. Bro, the f*cking, I’m blanking on the name, but it was like eight male cheerleaders at one point. Spirit Squad. So it’s like, there were always a silly element. There was always a silly element to wrestling, and they act as if just now under Triple H’s control just started having silly stuff in WWE. But you know what it is? It’s that we have the internet now. Back then you had to complain on a wrestling forum somewhere, and maybe a couple people saw it. But now we have this big X platform, Instagram, and everyone’s opinion is so heard now. Everything’s so connected. TikTok. So now it’s just everyone’s opinion.”

When talking about the Gingerbread Man segments and the entire spot with the funeral, Yachty stated that the IWC only cares about five star matches, and dislike fun in wrestling.

“It was so silly. It was so silly. I mean, again, people forget it’s entertainment, and it’s supposed to be funny. It’s supposed to be fun, and yeah, it’s good wrestling, but it’s entertainment and fun and have fun, man. Don’t be so uptight. Sometimes I be thinking it’s like, damn, you just want a card full of five-star matches.”

The Major Problem With Lil Yachty’s Comments About WWE Fans

The main issue with Yachty’s comments are that he thinks WWE fans should forcefully be grateful for the content we get. Sometimes these wrestlers and executives forget that the entire point of fans existing is to comment on the product, give their takes on matters, and have a say in what they say. Just because wrestling doesn’t have Rotten Tomatoes, doesn’t mean fan expression isn’t valid.

For years we have enjoyed R-Truth’s segments, Eddie Guerrero, and are also now enjoying Solo Sikoa for his comedic gift – nobody is complaining. Just because the Gingerbread Man segment was your idea, doesn’t mean it had to be good. It was in fact some of the worst television anybody could have think of.

The Spirit Squad, Hornswoggle, and the Boogeyman were, very the like Gingerbread, some of the worst gimmicks and segments in wrestling history. So if he thinks that was funny, maybe better your humor.

Yachty claims to be a lifelong fan with a lot of interest in wrestling. Instead he behaves like another of the TKO executives who couldn’t care less about our sentiments.

Fans complaining too much is an argument you hear only in pro wrestling. Movie fans and critics have been bashing Hollywood and the entertainment industry for years over their lack of creativity and good movies. Many fans have been up in arms and rated some of the most anticipated movies of the year poorly, so why is it that they are never asked to “just enjoy it,” and aren’t called “miserable?”

It’s unfortunate that wrestlers and those within the industry act like entitled a**holes, pretending that just because they run the show, their fans’ opinions are the last thing that matters.

Fans are the reasons you can pay your bills, they are the ones that purchase the tickets, buy the latest merchandise, and invest in the product. So instead of asking fans to shut up, maybe better the product.
