It looks like WWE SmackDown is less a wrestling show and more a botch fest and the mistakes continue to pile up!!
WWE is no stranger to botches as mistakes are very company in the company due to the pressure or live shows and how intense they can get. Pro wrestling in general is a difficult business as you have to curate and choreograph every move to make it seem as realistic as possible while keeping fans at the edge of their seats. Time is of the essence in such scenarios and mistakes are bound to happen. But, when there are multiple botches in the same show, things can get a little difficult.
Jade Cargill Botches Yet Again
Jade Cargill is up there at the top of the botch mountain and barely anyone comes close to her at this point.
She has botched multiple times before and it was no different this week on SmackDown. At this point you can expect her to botch every time she is in that ring, and this week Cargill did not disappoint the fans.
She was in a match with Alexa Bliss and Jacy Jayne for a spot in the MITB Ladder match. At one point in the bout Cargill was supposed to enter the ring and prevent the referee from counting but she didn’t make it in time forcing Jacy Jayne to kick out instead.
It seems that Cargill has a lot of issues with timing as she was also absent for another spot a few weeks ago where Michin was supposed to tag her in but the star wasn’t on the apron on time.
However, this week Cargill was well and truly overshadowed by another epic botch.
Referee Botches Ending To WWE SmackDown Main Event
The main event on WWE SmackDown saw Kevin Owens take on Sami Zayn for the WWE Undisputed Title. The match was going smoothly before Johnny Gargano showed up and CM Punk hit KO with the title for Zayn to take advantage.
However, once Punk hit Owens with the title, the star was knocked out giving Zayn the opportunity to get the pin. But the referee decided to stop counting to three, as was as the plan. The problem, however, was that KO had forgotten to kick out!!!
The ref, instead of signalling for two after stopping the count, signalled for the match to end, only for the ring announcer to not ring the bell. This led to a whole host of confusing moments as KO finally got his shoulders up slightly and the match continued with Zayn hitting a Helluva Kick just seconds later to pick up the win.
It was one of the weirdest endings to WWE SmackDown in history and one that will be written in the history books for all the wrong reasons. It’s fascinating to think that even with the impeccable machinery that WWE has in place for their performers, such botches still happen from time to time.
Of course, some will argue that it’s an inevitable part of performing live, and they would be correct. But, at this level, the botch on SmackDown was nothing short of a disaster. These are the kind of botches you’d expect on the indie circuit and blame it on whoever you want, but a total failure of communication during the biggest match of the night is kind of unacceptable.
